Grondar Blackfloyd comes to the inn to bring party to the official starting ceremony of The Intervals.
Taken to a large stadium with a circular track around a field. There are 3 pillars.
- Teams nominate a champion who must take an item from each pillar and combine it
- Last team to do this gets eliminated
- Other team members are on a central platform separated from the ring like track
- Teams cannot damage other teams (but can interfere in non-damaging ways)
- The 3 sections of track between the rings are regular road, sand, and water.
Besides the party, there are 3 other teams:
- The Champions, a Couatl disguised as a man that looks like Freddy Mercury and associated human followers We Are The Champions
- The Children of the World, Elf warriors / mages. We Are The World
- My Anaconda Don’t, Yuan-Ti warriors / mages Anaconda
Helia is chosen as the champion of the party, alongside Freddy Mercury, and elven mage, and a yuan-ti warrior.
At the opening:
- Freddy Mercury calmly shape shifts into a Couatl and then flies to the first pillar
- The elf dimension doors to the third pillar
- The yuan ti dashes
- Helia wild shapes into an Ape and dashes
Helia and Freddy make it to the first pillar at the same time and pick up a tea bag. Helia then successfully rides Freddy, who then tries to loop-de-loop and throw her off (unsuccessfully).
The elf is running the course backwards and slows down after a strong start.
The Yuan-ti struggles to climb up the first pillar, trying to use its fangs as additional holds.
Helia rides Freddy to the second pillar (sugar) and to the final pillar (water) where she uses flame spells to quickly make tea.
The Piano Man tries the tea, only to decree:

Distill the life that’s inside of me

I’m anemic royalty
Penny Royal Tea
Freddy calmly shape shifts back to human form before using a tinder kit to submit his tea second.
The party negotiates with the Yuan-ti team to sabotage the elves, helping the Yuan-ti get their tea submitted third.
The elves are eliminated from contest (not killed), and the Uptown Girl appears upset by this.
