The party is a little ways off from The Grove. They decide to long rest.
They wake up and head towards the city.
As they approach the city, they see patchy parts covered in dense jungle but other parts that are pristine and untouched.
The south gate is completely overrun.
They start circling the city clockwise and come across a destroyed section of the city wall. As they investigate, they see:
- A human hanging upside down stuck in a web saying “Get down, gotta get down”. Jungle Boogie
- A giant spider fighting 3 giant frogs. One of the frogs is trapped in secondary webbing.
Helia uses produce flame to knock burn the web around Kool.
The spider becomes aware of the party and retreats to investigate. Despite Ev’s illusions, combat between the spider and the frogs is initiated.
Helia burns the last strands of the web holding Kool, who starts falling. Cory catches him.
The party dispatches the spider and all 3 frogs, even as the last one tried to flee.
Kool explains that he is looking for his missing dog Boogie. He went up to the wall to find clues and ended up getting trapped between the spider and the frogs.
The party finds clues of the dog headed to the southwest quarter. The jungle appears to be getting thicker.
Kool explains that he was hiding from the riots with a few members of his gang and his dog. In the morning, there was a sudden burst of energy and half the building that Kool was in was replaced by a jungle. His gang was no where to be found and his dog ran away in the confusion.
As the party heads in deeper, they are being stalked by a dryad leaping from tree to tree. Cory asks “what manner of beast are ye?”
Combat is initiated, the dryad wants to watch them bleed. It continues to taunt them, “welcome to the jungle baby, you’re gonna die”. Welcome To The Jungle
A quickling joins the fight.
The party destroy both the dryad and the quickling. There is nothing of particular value on either corpse.
They retreat to a nearby unjungled building and set up a watch.
