Story

DeWitt’s protective love for his daughter was twisted into a weapon:

  • Bonnie told DeWitt that Jack was a vampire
  • Believing he was protecting his daughter, DeWitt killed Jack at Wise Men Falls
  • Shot Jack through the heart with a crossbow bolt
  • This murder led to Rose’s death from grief
  • DeWitt became an undead boneclaw, bound to Rose’s spirit

Undead Form

As a boneclaw, DeWitt served his daughter’s ghost:

  • Summoned by Rose when she was distressed
  • Rose would call him “that monster” in her anguish
  • Accompanied by a death dog
  • Fought with seamstress shears in his throat (killed by Rose when she heard what he did to Jack)
  • Used two cranking crossbows in combat (the weapon type he used to kill Jack)
  • After being defeated, his head remained animated and could speak

  • A tragic irony - his attempt to protect Rose destroyed her happiness

The Tragedy

  • Killed the man his daughter loved
  • Caused his daughter’s death through grief
  • Bound as undead to serve her tortured spirit
