Stodor (Giant) eats his dinner with various body parts and tells the party a story. “It was a new moon night, just like the one that passed 3 nights ago…”
The story is told non-linearly and involves players grabbing hollow eyeballs with prompts inside them.
These notes lay out the order the prompts were drawn in, chronological order is in parenthesis.
Hanzo is consumed by the dream and replaced by Velden.
(1) They were exploring the caverns…
Setting: Caves, 50ft tall ceiling
Darkness outside 20ft torch radius
Party introduces themselves as researchers exploring these caves.
Ground trembles, skeletons start rising out of the ground Spooky Scary Skeletons
Party initially starts fighting, but more enemies arrive (Minotaur Skeleton, Warhorse Skeleton). Skeletons they kill revive after a turn.
With the arrival of a flameskull, the party starts running deeper into the caves. They find a single small exit and rush out.
(3) Behold, the bad moon rising…
Golden red moon, unnatural since there should be no moon
Earthquakes and lightning, storm approaching.
Cliff top, cave in the background but obscured.
Multi-level map. 2x Skeletons chase after characters coming out of the cave.
Giant and wife and giant children.
Bad moon beam raises:
- Ogre Zombie
- Beholder Zombie
- Revenant
- Wraith
Party tries to fight, then flee. Giant helps by hurling rocks.
Party starts getting knocked unconscious. Beholder Zombie kills Giant wife and children.
As one of their final turns, party helps giant focus his anger onto a single boulder tossed towards the moon.
The moon cracks, as it is just a Synth Satellite.
(2) They tumbled into our home…
PC characters tumble into a small cave which is dimly lit by a golden red light from the cave entrace. See a Stone giant family: man, woman, 2 children.
Some skeletons pop inside, party dispatches them while others + giant block off the hole.
Skeletons keep respawning, so party + giants flee outside.
(4) Stones have no enemy but time…
Days turn into months which drag onto years.
Every night the giant goes out to hurl stones into the night.
Eventually The Synth traces the trail of stones back, investigating what destroyed their experiment.
They capture the giant alive and chain him to a pinball machine, with a visual illusion of a red moon when a ball needs to be thrown.
