Chest from Bridgerton’s rooms contains Pan Flute but rigged with gem stones, lenses, and mechanical contraptions. Not intrinsically magical, but resonates with magic. Blowing into the flute does nothing, the holes appear to be blocked in some way.
Hanzo says he has no reason to be with the party anymore, he was only in it for the children who are now with Sam. He continues with his wagon down the south west road.
The party discusses amongst themselves and want to head towards the city but not through the village of Ode.
As they are discussing, they notice Louis failing to hide behind some bushes. He introduces himself and says he’s looking for the song of the universe. He wants to join them because the parties foot falls are missing a beat and he wants to fill it in.
Helia and the party start looping to the east of Ode through the forest. They encounter David Blane dressed as a halfling woman. He’s been crying and is not sure of himself. He asks if he can travel with the party for a bit since he’d like the company.
Cory grudgingly accepts. David asks the party to say that he is Dylan’s wife if anyone asks.
The party continues moving for a while.
They are stopped by 3 halfling heads popping out of the brush. They ask the party if they have seen a halfling named David.
The party discuss and are divided on giving David up. The 3 halflings mention that David is supposed to be getting married that very day.
When confronted, David is depressed and doesn’t know if he can sign up his bride for a life with him. “What if I’m wrong”.
At this point, the 3 halflings see David amongst the party. They mention that they are his brothers and this is the third time David has run away from his wedding. This turns the party over and they grab David and head to the wedding as guests.
Harloc is concerned for David’s well being and ensures that David really wants to get married.
The party arrives at The Grove.
The wedding begins and the main hobbit asks if anyone would like to interject. A cart is overturned revealing 2 goblins and a goblin boss who go around trying to scare the halflings.
The party is quick to react and casts and entanglement and puts 2 goblins to sleep. 2 more goblins appear and manage to hustle David away.
The goblin boss disengages as they were not expecting resistance. The party convinces them to betray David and ask which lair he is being taken to. The goblins have multiple lairs and the boss doesn’t know.
300XP for the party.
Cory thinks they should just leave David to his own failings. After bartering with his brothers, they get offered The Blane Map.
The party picks up David’s trail and the goblin boss is able to deduce the lair from the direction.
The party follow the trail a short distance to an abandoned mine. The goblin boss convinces the party to tie up his fellows and stab the goblin boss, to make it appear like he did not betray the contract to the presumed goblins in the lair.
Helia hears David sniffling inside the mine.
Cory goes ahead into the abandoned mine and triggers a trapped beam, collapsing rocks behind him. He finds David tied up and crying. He smacks David across the face, making him bleed from the temple (4 damage).
The party spends a few hours digging out of the rock fall. They find the goblin boss has disappeared, but the 2 goblins are still tied up.
The party leave David tied up and quickly return to the grove. They elect to have a shotgun wedding with Cory officiating.
In exchange for returning (and marrying) David, the party receives The Blane Map. They warn the halflings about a potential Goblin attack. They go a short distance away from the grove and begin resting.
