- Narrative resumes in the back of Maurice’s wagon
- Louis notices the dagger glowing and examines it
- The party gets sucked into the dagger
- Find themselves in a very small translucent cavern with foggy edges, can see the caravan through the walls
- Hear a solitary figure, half the Piano Man, playing a Tumbi: “Yesterday… all my troubles were so far away”
- Helia throws a fireball at the figure, which accidentally destroys the Tumbi
- The figure whips around and is upset at the party, asking them to fix this only instrument
- Helia attempts to mend the instrument but the magic is too strong to restore the string
- Velden possesses some knowledge of the Tumbi but not enough to effectively repair the instrument
- 2 songs that involve Tumbis
- This half of the Piano Man gives up on his instrument and attempts to convince the party to restore him back to power, to be his champions in earnest
- Party is unconvinced. Piano Man dismisses them, pointing at a cylindrical elevator and wishing them luck getting out
- Party examines elevator, sees one small button (down) and one large button (double down)
- Party guesses double down and a voice speaks “major”. They go past a desert-like level full of scorpions, and down one further level
- They emerge in a similarly sized room that is otherwise empty. There is another identical elevator across from them. Pushing the single down button does nothing
- Investigating the area finds symbols representing “2 of 7”
- The party decides to go double down again
- They go past a forest level full of baddies
- They emerge again in an empty room. Investigating finds “3 of 7” and arrows: down labelled “Shadowfell” and up labelled “Material”
- The party goes single down
- They emerge in another empty room. They mess with the elevator a bit
- Velden manages to rotate the single down button. Pressing it now opens the ceiling back to the previous empty room, but the elevator is otherwise stationary
- The party seems convinced there’s no way back to the Material plane
- They deduce that these elevators are following a major scale and very quickly navigate the remaining whole-whole-whole-half sequence. They fly past lovingly crafted levels full of interesting monsters and encounters
- They emerge with the last elevator embedded into the ground
- They are in a mountainous region with the sky and ambient light in a permanent state of twilight
- They see a spire off to the distance, smelling of brimstone
- Behind them, there is a massive clocktower that they ignore
- As they trek towards the spire, the wind picks up
- They realize that in Shadowfell, the wind whistles, in the same tune as There It Go (the whistle song)
