The Gothic Baroque Castle and Delegate Meeting

The party trekked toward the Gothic Baroque spire built into the mountainside, surrounded by a lava-filled moat approximately 150 feet wide. A single guarded bridge led to the castle entrance, with two guards stationed to control access.

Lucius used the broom of flying to scout from above, discovering 36 distinct camps arranged in a circle around the castle. Each camp displayed different banners and maintained distance from the others - delegates from the 36 Chambers had gathered for a meeting arranged by Master Flo. When Lucius made a lower pass to check banners, castle defenders shot an arrow into his shoulder.

The party approached the bridge on foot. Guards warned them at 60 feet and fired a warning arrow at 40 feet, declaring “The castle is closed to 36 chamber business only.” The party decided to investigate the camps instead.

Meeting Master Flo:

The party attempted a stealth approach to a dark elf camp but critically failed. Three mounted dark elves spotted them and, after questioning, brought them to Master Flo’s tent. Lucius chose complete honesty, explaining their arrival from a different plane through encounters with the Piano Man and musical elevators. Master Flo was impressed and recognized they could be useful allies.

Master Flo explained the 36 Chambers are remnants of the War Against Hippity-Hops that occurred hundreds of years ago. Flo has consolidated seven chambers and seeks to convince remaining delegates to “rise up and restore the honor that was stolen.”

The Chess Boxing Challenge:

Master Flo brought the party into the castle as part of their entourage for a meeting in a coliseum room. The opposing faction - a mixed group led by a handsome devil - argued for peace rather than war. Feeling their diplomatic efforts fail, Master Flo invoked “the mystery” - an ancient hip-hop tradition calling for a binding champion battle.

The opposition accepted and declared chess boxing as the format. The party served as champions, facing a gigantic toad creature with alternating rounds of speed chess and physical combat. Chess pieces captured granted combat buffs, while checking the king stunned the toad. Through strategic play, the party achieved checkmate and won the challenge for Master Flo’s faction, retaining a bishop, rook, and queen for future battles.
